Senator representing Abia North, Orji Uzor Kalu, has commended President Bola Tinubu for approving a substantial salary increase for members of the Nigerian Armed Forces, describing the decision as a strategic investment in national security and the welfare of military personnel.
Kalu said the pay increase demonstrates the administration’s recognition of the sacrifices made by troops in defending the country’s sovereignty and tackling terrorism, banditry, kidnapping and other security threats.
He noted that improving the welfare of military personnel is both a moral obligation and a vital step towards strengthening Nigeria’s security architecture and boosting the morale of troops.
The former Abia State governor also urged members of the Armed Forces and other security agencies to reciprocate the gesture by carrying out their duties with professionalism, discipline, fairness and respect for the rights of citizens.
According to him, security personnel who perform their constitutional responsibilities with integrity inspire public confidence and contribute to national stability.
Kalu expressed confidence that improved welfare would enhance the operational effectiveness of the Armed Forces, stressing that a secure nation remains the foundation for economic growth, national unity and sustainable development.
