Hundreds of firefighters, supported by water bombing aircraft, are battling a major wildfire that has devastated the historic Fontainebleau Forest outside Paris.
The fire has destroyed more than 1,900 hectares of forest, forcing about 1,000 residents to evacuate as France grapples with another intense heatwave.
Authorities say high temperatures, strong winds and dry conditions have complicated efforts to contain the blaze.
Police have launched an arson investigation, with two suspects arrested over the suspected deliberate ignition of the fire.
Officials say more than 32,000 hectares have been destroyed by wildfires across France since the beginning of the year, surpassing the total affected during the entire 2025 fire season.
