The Federal Government has intensified efforts to increase crude oil production by strengthening security collaboration with stakeholders in the oil and gas sector as part of measures to support economic growth.

The initiative was reinforced during a strategic meeting convened by the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, at the Headquarters of the 6 Division, Nigerian Army, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

The meeting brought together military commanders, regulatory agencies and key players in the oil and gas industry to develop a coordinated approach to protecting critical oil infrastructure and addressing threats such as pipeline vandalism, crude oil theft and other forms of economic sabotage.

Addressing participants, General Musa described the oil and gas sector as vital to Nigeria’s economic stability and called for stronger collaboration among all stakeholders.

He emphasised the need for improved intelligence sharing, mutual trust and collective action to safeguard critical national assets, eliminate economic sabotage and create a secure environment capable of supporting increased crude oil production and sustainable economic development.
