The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) has launched its Back to the Creeks Initiative in Delta State, awarding scholarships and distributing educational materials to 500 pupils as part of efforts to improve education in underserved oil-producing communities.
The intervention was unveiled during the official launch of the Cradle to Career Academic Excellence Recognition and Educational Advancement Programme held at Nana Model College, Warri.
According to the Board, the initiative is designed to restore rural schools, promote Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education, provide scholarships and expand educational opportunities for children and young people in riverine communities.
Representing the Executive Secretary of NCDMB, the Manager of Institutional Relations and Entrepreneurship Development, Engr. James Eyetigha, urged the beneficiaries to remain committed to academic excellence and make the most of the opportunities provided.
Stakeholders commended the partnership between NCDMB and Albatech for its commitment to improving the standard of education in Delta State and empowering young learners.
Parents and students also expressed appreciation to the Board for the scholarships and educational materials, which included school bags, notebooks, pens, rulers, mathematical sets and T-shirts.
