Former Minister of Science and Technology, Uche Nnaji, has been arrested at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, shortly after arriving from Enugu aboard a chartered flight.
According to airport sources, Nnaji was taken into custody and is expected to be handed over to the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) for questioning.
The arrest is linked to an ongoing ICPC investigation into allegations that the former minister forged his academic certificates.
In June, a Federal High Court in Abuja granted the ICPC permission to arrest Nnaji and declare him wanted after the commission said he repeatedly failed to honour invitations for questioning.
The court also authorised the anti-corruption agency to publish his wanted notice in national newspapers, social media platforms and other media channels.
Nnaji was arrested upon his arrival in Abuja and is expected to be transferred to the ICPC for further investigation.
As of the time of filing this report, the ICPC had not issued an official statement on the arrest, while Nnaji and his representatives had yet to respond to the allegations.
