Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has resolved the industrial crisis at the Delta State University Teaching Hospital (DELSUTH), Oghara, and directed immediate action to address the institution’s infrastructure and power challenges.
The Chief Medical Director of DELSUTH, Professor Harrison Abedi, disclosed this after a meeting with the governor in Asaba, describing the intervention as timely and reassuring for the hospital’s management and staff.
Professor Abedi said the state government has already awarded a contract to restore stable electricity to the hospital, with the Ministry of Energy commencing implementation. He added that a new high-tension transformer to provide a dedicated 33KVA power line is being transported from Lagos for installation.
He further revealed that Governor Oborevwori directed the hospital management to work with the Commissioner for Health to ensure the comprehensive rehabilitation and modernisation of the teaching hospital.
Professor Abedi expressed optimism that the governor’s intervention would encourage the striking unions to suspend their industrial action, return to work and restore normal healthcare services.
