President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has commended Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, for the completion of the new terminal at Victor Attah International Airport and the commencement of flight operations from the facility.
Akpabio gave the commendation on Sunday when Governor Eno paid him a courtesy visit at his residence in Uyo.
The Senate President called on the management of Victor Attah International Airport to open the facility to more airline operators in order to promote healthy competition and improve the quality of air travel services available to passengers.
He noted that increased participation by airline operators would enhance service delivery, provide more travel options and contribute to the growth of the aviation sector in the state.
Akpabio also praised the governor’s efforts in addressing insecurity across Akwa Ibom State, particularly through his engagement with village youths.
He described the initiative as a practical approach to sustaining peace and strengthening security at the grassroots level.
According to the Senate President, involving young people in community development and security efforts remains critical to maintaining stability and preventing criminal activities.
In his remarks, Governor Umo Eno said the visit provided an opportunity to brief the Senate President on recent developments in the state and activities of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The governor disclosed that the party had successfully conducted its congresses and primaries in preparation for the 2027 general elections.
He added that the meeting also afforded him the opportunity to update the Senate President on ongoing governance initiatives and development projects being executed across Akwa Ibom State.
Governor Eno reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to delivering dividends of democracy and promoting sustainable development for the benefit of the people of the state.
