Former Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger has given the Gunners a modest 20 percent chance of winning the Premier League title this season, following a series of disappointing results.
Arsenal had an opportunity to close the gap on league leaders Liverpool after the Reds dropped four points in three matches. However, Mikel Arteta’s side failed to capitalize, suffering a disappointing 1-0 home defeat to West Ham on Saturday.
Liverpool, on the other hand, extended their lead at the top of the table to 11 points with a 2-0 victory over Manchester City at the Etihad on Sunday.
Speaking to newsmen, Wenger admitted that Arsenal’s title chances are diminishing. He explained that his 20 percent estimate reflects his optimistic outlook, but acknowledged the growing challenge of catching up to Liverpool.
The Gunners’ recent struggles highlight the competitive nature of the Premier League and the need for consistency in their pursuit of the title.
