Tobi Amusan Breaks Meet Record, Wins 100m Hurdles at Rabat Diamond League

12.45s run marks season’s best for Nigerian star hurdler

Nigeria’s Tobi Amusan delivered a sensational performance to win the women’s 100m hurdles at the Rabat Diamond League on Sunday, setting a new meet record of 12.45 seconds.

The 2022 World Champion and world record holder shattered the previous meet record of 12.51s, set by American Brianna McNeal in 2018. Amusan’s time also marks her season’s best (SB) so far.

The event, which was held just before the meet’s main broadcast, saw Amusan dominate from the start, pulling ahead of the field with a powerful and decisive finish.

Coming in second was the Netherlands’ Nadine Visser, who also posted a season’s best of 12.67 seconds, while Poland’s Pia Skrzyszowska followed closely in third with 12.69 seconds (SB).

  • Giada Carmassi (Italy) – 12.81s (PB)
  • Elena Carraro – 12.89s
  • Destiny Huven (USA) – 12.93s
  • Sacha Alessandrini (France) – 12.96s (SB)
  • Karin Strametz (Austria) – 13.08s (SB)

The race was contested under a legal wind reading of +1.2 m/s.

Amusan’s performance is a significant boost to her campaign ahead of the Olympic season and reinforces her status as one of the leading figures in global sprint hurdling.
