President Bola Tinubu has conferred the national honour of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) on Nigeria’s Super Falcons and their technical crew in recognition of their victory at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

The announcement was made during a presidential reception held Monday at the State House in Abuja, following the team’s triumphant return from Morocco, where they secured a record-extending 10th continental title.

In addition to the national honours, President Tinubu approved the allocation of three-bedroom apartments to each player and member of the coaching staff at the Renewed Hope Estate in the Federal Capital Territory.

He also directed that cash rewards be issued, with each of the 24 players to receive the naira equivalent of $100,000, while each member of the 11-man technical crew will receive $50,000.

The President praised the team for their resilience, unity, and patriotism, describing their success as a source of inspiration to the nation.
