President Bola Tinubu has described the ongoing transformation of Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory (FCT) through critical infrastructure projects as a clear demonstration of his administration’s commitment to purposeful leadership and national development.
Speaking through Vice President Kashim Shettima during the official commissioning of the newly completed Connector Road CN-8, popularly known as Asuquo Okon Road, and adjoining streets in the Dakibiyu District of Abuja, President Tinubu said the projects reflect a bold vision for modern infrastructure that promotes order, dignity, and opportunity for all citizens.
“This is not just concrete and steel,” the President stated, “it is a bold statement of vision and seriousness — a testament to what we stand for as a government committed to improving the lives of Nigerians.”
FCT Minister Recalls Shocking State of Area Before Intervention
Also speaking at the event, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike recounted the poor condition of the road network before the intervention. He said he was shocked by the state of the roads when he visited the location selected for the Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal.
“It was disgraceful to see such neglect at the heart of the capital city. We couldn’t allow that to stand,” Wike noted, commending President Tinubu for the political will to deliver on key projects.
FCT Minister of State Reaffirms Commitment to Renewed Hope Agenda
In her remarks, FCT Minister of State, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, aligned with Wike’s position and reaffirmed that the Renewed Hope Agenda is yielding visible results across Abuja. She praised the administration’s determination to deliver quality infrastructure that enhances urban mobility and improves the standard of living.
“These road projects are not just about movement; they are about connecting lives, improving access, and building a future where no district is left behind,” she said.
