SENATOR NED NWOKO CALLS FOR NATIONAL DIALOGUE AND SOCIAL MEDIA REGULATION

Date:

Senator Ned Nwoko has called on the Federal Government to initiate a national dialogue with disaffected groups to address deep-rooted grievances.

Speaking during Thursday’s Senate plenary, Senator Nwoko emphasized the importance of proactive engagement in fostering peace, particularly in security-challenged areas like Abadam and Marte Local Government Areas in Borno State.

The senator’s call followed discussions on a motion sponsored by Senator Monguno Tahir, urging the deployment of additional security personnel to vulnerable areas.

Senator Nwoko also advocated for regulating social media platforms to enhance government oversight and curb illicit activities such as money laundering. He added that such measures could create new job opportunities for Nigerians.

Enugu State is set to showcase its hosting capabilities in 2026, following Ogun State’s turn in January 2025, as the country continues to use sports as a unifying platform.
