Abuja, Nigeria – President Bola Tinubu will today officially inaugurate the Unity Torch movement for the 2024 National Sports Festival during a ceremony at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The symbolic torch, representing peace and national unity, will embark on a nationwide tour across all 36 state capitals to promote solidarity ahead of the sporting event.
Scheduled for May 16-30 in Abeokuta, Ogun State, this year’s edition dubbed “Gateway Games” will bring together athletes from across Nigeria to showcase sporting excellence and foster national cohesion.
“The Unity Torch embodies our shared values of harmony and collective progress,” a statement noted, emphasizing the festival’s role in strengthening Nigeria’s unity through sports.
