President Bola Tinubu has endorsed the Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty, initiated by Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, at the G20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro.
The alliance aims to address hunger and poverty through global collaboration between governments, international organizations, and civil society. President Tinubu described the initiative as transformative and aligned with Nigeria’s development priorities.
He reiterated Nigeria’s commitment to achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly eradicating poverty and achieving zero hunger. He also called for reform in the United Nations Security Council, advocating for permanent seats for African nations to enhance equitable global governance.
President Tinubu emphasized the importance of addressing global financial imbalances and tax reforms to bridge inequalities between the Global North and South. Nigeria, he stated, will remain a steadfast advocate for inclusive development and international cooperation.
