President Bola Tinubu has approved a significant shake-up in his cabinet, appointing Sunday Dare and Daniel Bwala as co-spokespersons alongside Bayo Onanuga, who remains Special Adviser on Information and Strategy.
The presidency announced the restructuring late Monday, emphasizing the move aims to enhance the effective communication of government policies and decisions.
Sunday Dare, formerly Special Adviser on Public Communication and National Orientation, is now Special Adviser, Media and Public Communications.
Meanwhile, Daniel Bwala, initially announced as the Special Adviser on Media and Public Communication, takes on the role of Special Adviser, Policy Communication.
The presidency also clarified that these three Special Advisers will collectively serve as spokespersons, marking a departure from having a singular presidential spokesperson.
This reshuffle follows a broader overhaul of Tinubu’s administration, which includes the dismissal of five ministers and the reassignment of ten others to new portfolios. Additionally, seven new ministerial nominees await Senate confirmation.
As part of the reforms, the Ministry of Niger Delta Development has been renamed the Ministry of Regional Development to oversee all regional commissions.
The Ministry of Sports Development has been dissolved, with its functions transferred to the National Sports Commission, now led by newly appointed chairman Shehu Dikko.
The changes also saw the merger of the Ministries of Tourism, Arts, and Culture into a single entity—the Federal Ministry of Arts, Culture, Tourism, and the Creative Economy. These actions align with President Tinubu’s commitment to optimizing governance efficiency and fulfilling his promises to Nigerians.
