President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has signed into law two separate bills establishing the Federal University of Agriculture and Development Studies in Iragbiji, Osun State, and the Federal University of Technology and Environmental Sciences in Iyin Ekiti, Ekiti State.
President Tinubu emphasized that these specialized institutions will address the educational needs of Nigerians while driving research, innovation, and economic growth. He noted that the universities will serve as training grounds for developing professionals in agriculture, science, and technology, enhancing Nigeria’s competitiveness in the global economy.
In addition to the two new universities, President Tinubu also approved the federal government’s takeover of a forfeited private university in Southern Kaduna, which will be transformed into a federal university. This move is part of the administration’s efforts to expand access to quality education and promote national development.
The establishment of these institutions underscores the government’s commitment to advancing education, fostering innovation, and addressing critical sectors such as agriculture and technology.
