President Tinubu Assents to Bills Establishing Two New Federal Universities

Date:

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has signed into law two separate bills establishing the Federal University of Agriculture and Development Studies in Iragbiji, Osun State, and the Federal University of Technology and Environmental Sciences in Iyin Ekiti, Ekiti State.

President Tinubu emphasized that these specialized institutions will address the educational needs of Nigerians while driving research, innovation, and economic growth. He noted that the universities will serve as training grounds for developing professionals in agriculture, science, and technology, enhancing Nigeria’s competitiveness in the global economy.

In addition to the two new universities, President Tinubu also approved the federal government’s takeover of a forfeited private university in Southern Kaduna, which will be transformed into a federal university.
