Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has reiterated his commitment to sustaining and supporting the vision of his late wife, Pastor Patience Eno. The governor made this declaration during the first anniversary of the late First Lady’s pet project, Golden Initiative For All (GIFA), held at Ibom Hall Grounds, Uyo.
Governor Eno reminisced about his late wife’s remarkable ability to understand and address the needs of the people, implementing interventions that made significant impacts. He praised her dedication to empowering families and improving lives across Akwa Ibom State.
The Golden Initiative For All has been instrumental in enhancing literacy rates, reducing maternal mortality, and promoting women’s empowerment, aligning with Governor Eno’s ARISE Agenda. The governor expressed his gratitude to Lady Helen Obareki, Coordinator of the Office of the First Lady, for her outstanding efforts in continuing his late wife’s legacy and filling the void left by her passing.
Governor Eno also acknowledged the contributions of individuals and organizations that have supported the initiative, emphasizing the profound impact their efforts have had on the lives of Akwa Ibom residents.
In her address, Lady Helen Obareki urged residents to be role models and live exemplary lives, highlighting the importance of collective efforts in driving societal progress.
Mrs. Beatrice Eyong, United Nations Women Representative to Nigeria and ECOWAS, emphasized the importance of women’s active participation in governance. She warned that gender-based violence and inequality pose significant threats to societal development.
The event featured the cutting of a cake to mark the occasion and a symbolic presentation of an award to the winner of a novelty match, the Wives of All Local Government Chairmen of Nigeria, Akwa Ibom State Chapter.
