Police Rescue Three Kidnap Victims in Taraba State

The Taraba Police Command says it has rescued three individuals who were kidnapped at Sibre village in Ardo Kola Local Government Area on December 6, 2024.

The victims were freed during an operation at Dutse Mubayu near the Kona Mountains in Jalingo, the state capital.

According to a statement by the spokesperson of the Taraba Police Command, Abdullahu Usman, officers from the Area Command Jalingo, in collaboration with local vigilantes, responded to a distress call at about 2:30 pm. The team engaged the kidnappers in a gunfight during which the criminals fled, leaving behind the hostages.

The victims, identified as Idris Adamu, Umar Usman, and Ibrahim Usman, were rescued unharmed and have since been reunited with their families. In the course of the operation, the team recovered an AK-47 magazine loaded with 35 rounds of live ammunition.

The Commissioner of Police in Taraba State, Ukachi Opara, commended the officers and vigilantes for their efforts and directed them to intensify efforts to apprehend the fleeing suspects. He assured residents of the state that the police are committed to ensuring their safety and security.
