The Kogi State Police Command has arrested three suspects in connection with the death of Mariam Usman, a staff member of Brains Minds Nursery and Primary School in Ugbamaka, Olamaboro Local Government Area.
Police say investigations revealed that the victim was allegedly assaulted on separate occasions after disciplining an 11-year-old pupil during school hours.
According to the command, the deceased was first attacked at her residence before she was assaulted again while on her way to the mosque. Investigators also alleged that another suspect later attacked her at her workplace.
The victim was initially treated at a private clinic before being referred for further medical attention but later died from injuries sustained during the assaults.
Police said investigations established a prima facie case of criminal conspiracy and culpable homicide against the three suspects, who will be arraigned in court after the conclusion of investigations.
The Commissioner of Police, Naziru Bello Kankarofi, commended detectives for their professionalism and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to ensuring justice for victims of violent crimes.
He also urged residents to resolve disputes through lawful means and continue supporting the police with credible information to aid crime prevention and law enforcement.
