Operatives of the Katsina State Police Command have arrested a 20-year-old woman, Aisha Muktar Hassan, for allegedly killing her 97-year-old grandmother, Hajiya Ummukhulsum Hassan, in Daura Local Government Area of the state.
The incident reportedly occurred on June 12, 2026, following a domestic dispute between the suspect and the deceased.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, the matter was reported to the Sabon Garin Daura Police Station by the suspect’s father, Muktar Muhammad Hassan.
Aliyu said police operatives immediately responded to the scene and found the victim unconscious in a pool of blood at her residence.
The victim was rushed to a hospital for treatment but was later confirmed dead by medical personnel.
Police investigations revealed that the altercation allegedly turned violent after the suspect struck the elderly woman on the head with a wooden chair.
The command said the suspect was arrested during the investigation and subsequently confessed to the offence.
She is currently in police custody and is expected to be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
The police said further updates on the case would be communicated as investigations progress.
