More than 76 ISWAP terrorists, including key members of the insurgent group and their family members, have surrendered to troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation Hadin Kai, following sustained military operations across the region.
In a statement, the Acting Military Information Officer of Operation Hadin Kai, Captain Mohammed Goni, said the development reflects the devastating impact of ongoing military offensives that have continued to dismantle terrorist strongholds, disrupt command structures and deny insurgents freedom of movement.
According to the military, persistent operations have significantly degraded the combat capabilities of the terrorists while eroding confidence within their ranks and leadership.
Captain Goni disclosed that the surrendered terrorists are currently in a secure location undergoing profiling, debriefing and other established procedures in line with operational protocols.
He noted that the latest surrender demonstrates the effectiveness of the Nigerian military’s comprehensive counter-terrorism and counter-insurgency strategy, which combines precision combat operations, intelligence-led engagements and coordinated joint efforts with security partners.
The military further assured that Operation Hadin Kai remains committed to completely defeating terrorism and restoring lasting peace and security across the North-East, stressing that pressure on the remaining insurgents will continue until they are either neutralised or compelled to surrender.
