Olympic Flag Arrives in Los Angeles Ahead of 2028 Games

Date:

The Olympic flag has arrived in Los Angeles, marking the beginning of preparations for the 2028 Summer Games.

The flag was delivered aboard a Delta Airlines jet, which also transported American athletes and officials, and featured LA28 and palm trees painted on its side.

Upon arrival, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass stepped off the plane in a red tracksuit, beaming as she waved the Olympic flag before descending the airstairs.

At the airport, Mayor Bass expressed her tremendous pride and responsibility in receiving the Olympic flag in Paris on Sunday.

Los Angeles was awarded the hosting rights for the 2028 Games by the International Olympic Committee in 2017.

This will mark the third time the city has hosted the Olympics, following previous events in 1932 and 1984.
