IOC Dismisses Rumors of Paris Olympics Postponement Amid Social Media Misinformation

Date:

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has dismissed the misinformation that is gathering momentum on social media about the possible postponement or cancellation of the Paris Olympic Games.

Speculation had suggested that civil unrest following the upcoming second round of French parliamentary elections could prompt such actions.

In a categorical statement, the IOC denounced these claims as part of a broader disinformation campaign targeting France, the Olympic Committee, and its leadership, categorically asserting the absence of any factual basis for such rumors.

The IOC affirmed that its President, Mr. Thomas Bach, and the entire Olympic Movement eagerly anticipate the spectacular Paris 2024 Olympic Games, commencing with the Opening Ceremony on 26th July.

Meanwhile, the French Government echoed these sentiments, dismissing the rumors as false and indecent.

French Sports Minister, Ms. Amélie Oudéa-Castéra reaffirmed the nation’s commitment to hosting the Games without disruption, despite the upcoming parliamentary elections scheduled for Sunday.
