NPFL ISSUES STRONG WARNING TO CLUBS REGARDING MATCH DISRUPTIONS

Date:

The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has issued a strict warning to clubs against match disruptions, emphasizing severe penalties for any club responsible for disturbances during games.

In an official statement, NPFL Chief Operating Officer Davidson Owumi stressed that home teams must provide adequate security for visiting players, officials, and fans. He made it clear that the safety of all participants must be guaranteed throughout the event.

“The responsibility of ensuring the security of visiting players, officials, and fans lies with the home clubs before, during, and after their home matches,” Owumi stated.

He added that any failure to maintain security or allow disruptions would result in strict sanctions.

“Teams that permit disruptions, security breaches, or lapses of any kind will face the necessary consequences as outlined in the NPFL regulations,” the statement further warned.

In related news, the NPFL has announced a new date for the rescheduled matchday 3 fixture between Enyimba and Akwa United. Initially set for Sunday, September 22, the game will now take place on Wednesday, October 2, at the Enyimba International Stadium, Aba.

The change was made to accommodate Enyimba’s CAF Confederation Cup second preliminary round return leg against Etoile Filante, which will be held on Saturday at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo. Enyimba previously secured a goalless draw against the Burkinabe team in Mali last Friday.
