River United’s unbeaten streak in this season’s Nigeria Premier Football League came to an end with a 2-0 defeat to Ikorodu City on Sunday.
Ayomide Cole put Ikorodu City ahead just three minutes into the second half, and Rivio Ayemnwere extended the lead eight minutes later.
This loss caused River United to slip to second place in the league standings, allowing Remo Stars to ascend to the top spot following their 1-0 victory over Lobi Stars.
In other matches, former Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa scored the decisive goal in added time as Kano Pillars came back to defeat Plateau United 2-1.
