Troops from the 6 Division of the Nigerian Army, alongside other security agencies, have apprehended oil thieves and recovered over 700,000 liters of stolen petroleum products in a recent operation targeting illegal activities across the Niger Delta.

In Rivers State, soldiers intercepted a large wooden vessel loaded with more than 150,000 liters of stolen crude in Kula, Akuku-Toru Local Government Area (LGA). Six suspects were arrested. The operation extended across areas such as Kay, Abesa, and Rukpoku pipelines, leading to the destruction of ten illegal refining sites and confiscation of 400,000 liters of AGO. Troops in Bayelsa and Akwa Ibom States similarly intercepted vehicles transporting illegally refined AGO concealed in nylon bags, with two suspects taken into custody.
