The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has urged the Kogi State Government to clear its position with the Ministry of Finance on the issue of non-payment of salaries by the immediate past administration as stated by the ministry.
NLC President, Comrade Joe Ajaero gave the charge in Abuja when officials of the Kogi State Government led by the Special Adviser to Kogi State Governor on Labour Matters paid a Courtesy Visit to the Leadership of the Congress.
Comrade Ajaero pointed out that according to the latest report from the Finance Ministry, Kogi State was identified as owing workers several months of salaries.
He mentioned that if the new state administration has reversed this trend and begun paying salaries promptly, it is crucial to reconcile this with the ministry.
Special Adviser to the Governor of Kogi State on Labour Matters, Mr Onuh Edoka emphasized that the State Government has prioritized workers’ welfare, ensuring salaries are paid promptly.
The NLC President, while commending this reported improvement, urged the government to consistently prioritize the welfare of workers in the state as he assured that the congress would collaborate with the state on matters concerning workers’ welfare.
