Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets Held to Scoreless Draw in WAFU B Under 17 Championship Opener

Date:

Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets have started their journey to defend their WAFU B Under 17 title with a frustrating goalless draw against Burkina Faso in Accra, Ghana.

Coached by Manu Garba, a former Under 17 World Cup-winning coach, Nigeria entered Thursday’s match aiming for victory, but adverse weather conditions influenced the game, leading to a shared outcome.

In a rematch of last year’s final in the same competition, Burkina Faso’s young stallions dominated the early stages while Nigeria struggled to find momentum.

Nigeria’s Captain, Simon Cletus, a pre-match player to watch, remained a constant threat for the Golden Eaglets throughout the tense encounter.

The Golden Eaglets will confront Niger Republic in their second match on Sunday, requiring victory to bolster their chances of advancing to the semifinals.
