Aviation Workers in Akwa Ibom state have urged the government to address their condition of service which was signed in 2012, for enhanced welfare.
The Union members made their demands known during a peaceful protest at the Victor Attah International Airport in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital.
Chairman of Air Transport Services of the Senior Staff Association of Nigeria, in the State, Comrade Ubong Samuel, noted that the service condition was due for review in 2016 but has not been implemented by the State Civil Service.
On his part, Akwa Ibom State Secretary of Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria, Comrade Idorenyin Ekong questioned the delay in implementing the agreement, approved by then Governor, Senator Godswill Akpabio.
Comrade Ukeme Utuk urged the government to prioritize the implementation of the signed agreement along with other welfare incentives.
Although activities at the airport were not halted, aggrieved members threatened a total shutdown of operations at the airport if their demands were not met.
