NFF Vows Equal Treatment for Supersand Eagles in Global Arena

Date:

President of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau has promised that the NFF is committed to ensuring that the Beach Soccer National Team, otherwise known as Supersand Eagles, will enjoy the same attention as other National Teams when restored to international competitions.

Alhaji Gusau made this promise during the inauguration of the Federation’s Futsal and Beach Soccer Sub-Committee at the NFF Secretariat in Abuja.

He emphasized Nigeria’s significant stature in global football and highlighted the necessity of Nigeria’s active participation in various football activities across Africa.

Alhaji Gusau affirmed the NFF’s determination to take all required steps to reestablish Nigeria’s presence in futsal and beach soccer competitions.

The Supersand Eagles have previously brought glory to Nigeria, notably winning the Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations in 2007 and 2009.

They have also represented Africa in multiple FIFA Beach Soccer World Cups, reaching the quarter-finals in Italy in 2011.

Following the decision to withdraw the team from international competitions five years ago after challenging results at the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in Paraguay, the NFF is now poised to revitalize its involvement under the leadership of the newly appointed Futsal and Beach Soccer Sub-Committee.

Mr. Otuekong Nse Essien will head the committee, supported by seven other members.
