NCAA Backs UNIVASA Global Connectivity to Improve Passenger Experience

The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, has expressed support for the adoption of UNIVASA embedded and physical SIM technology to help international air passengers remain connected while travelling.

The initiative is aimed at addressing communication challenges passengers may experience after leaving airports where Wi-Fi services are available, particularly when they need to contact family members or people waiting for them at their destinations.

Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection at the NCAA, Michael Achimugu, says the initiative will give Nigerian air travellers access to connectivity services already available to passengers in other parts of the world.

Speaking during an engagement involving airline operators and the service provider, Achimugu said improved connectivity could make international travel more convenient for passengers.

Vice President of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Dr Halimat Adediran, also shared her experience using the UNIVASA SIM and highlighted its usefulness for travellers.

Managing Director of UNIVASA, Dr Ben Adeniyi, says the service allows passengers to stay connected across different countries without roaming charges and can operate through embedded SIM technology without requiring a physical SIM card.

Adeniyi added that some airlines already offer similar connectivity services as add-ons when passengers purchase tickets.

He said passengers whose tickets do not include the service can also access it at airports, providing another option for staying connected during international travel.
