National Assembly Postpones Resumption to May 6

Date:

The National Assembly has extended its resumption date from April 29 to May 6, 2025, according to an official memo signed by Clerk of the National Assembly Kamoru Ogunlana.

In the notice issued on Monday, Ogunlana stated that the adjustment was made to allow lawmakers to participate in Workers’ Day celebrations on May 1 and attend to critical constituency matters.

“The two Houses of the National Assembly have extended the resumption date from Tuesday, 29th April 2025 to Tuesday, 6th May 2025,” the memo read.

The federal legislature had initially adjourned on March 27 for the Easter and Eid-el-Fitr holidays. This latest postponement further extends the recess for members of the 10th National Assembly.

“We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding,” Ogunlana added in the statement.

The extended break comes as several pending bills and national issues await legislative attention when sessions resume.
