Death Toll Rises to Seven in Lagos Building Collapse as Search Operations Continue

Date:

The death toll from Saturday’s building collapse in Ojodu-Berger, Lagos, has increased to seven after emergency responders recovered two additional bodies from the rubble on Monday afternoon. The three-story structure, which housed an eatery, suddenly crumbled on Saturday morning, killing two people instantly and injuring several others.

Rescue operations led by the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, and the Nigeria Police have been ongoing since the incident occurred. Authorities have not yet confirmed whether more victims remain trapped under the debris.

This marks yet another tragic building collapse in Lagos, raising further concerns about construction safety standards and enforcement in Nigeria’s commercial capital. Investigations into the cause of the collapse are still underway, with officials expected to provide updates on the situation.
