The Minister of Arts, Culture, Tourism, and Creative Economy, Barr. Hannatu Musawa has lauded the Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Mbah, as a “rare gift” to the nation, declaring that Enugu is fortunate to have him as its leader. Musawa made this statement during a one-day visit to the state, where she toured key sites, including the International Conference Centre, the Enugu Digital Museum, and the Christmas Village at Naira Triangle, a state-private sector initiative. She also attended the lighting ceremony of the Unity Park.
Barr. Musawa commended Governor Mbah for his impressive development efforts over the past 18 months, highlighting his innovations, such as the smart schools initiative. She expressed confidence that his work would leave a lasting impact on Nigeria’s future, noting that Mbah had set a remarkable example for other governors to follow.
“I can tell you unequivocally that Enugu is one of the luckiest states in Nigeria… what you have done with the smart schools, the innovation here will be remembered in the trajectory of Nigeria,” Musawa said. She also expressed eagerness to return to Enugu in the new year to explore further opportunities for collaboration in the arts, culture, tourism, and creative industries.
Governor Mbah, in his remarks, thanked the Federal Government for its cooperation and reiterated his belief that Nigeria’s economic growth depends on the contributions of individual states. He emphasized Enugu’s potential, particularly in the tourism sector, and announced ambitious plans to attract 3 million visitors annually. The governor also revealed plans to develop a five-star hotel at the International Conference Centre and establish Enugu as the conference capital of Africa. Additionally, he unveiled plans to create a world-class theme park at Milliken Hill, aiming to make it a heritage site.
In a related development, the Catholic Bishop of Enugu Diocese, Most Rev. Calistus Onaga, blessed the Christmas Village at Naira Triangle, commending the governor for his innovative leadership and praying for the state’s continued progress.
