The Edo State Government has joined Nigerians in celebrating Senate President Godswill Akpabio’s 62nd birthday, commending his outstanding contributions to public service and Nigeria’s democratic development.
In a statement commemorating the occasion, the state government described Senator Akpabio’s journey as a testament to his exemplary leadership and unwavering commitment to national progress. His tenure in various public offices, including Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Minority Leader of the Senate, Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, and now Senate President, has been marked by significant achievements.
The statement highlighted his legacy as Governor of Akwa Ibom and referred to him as a “jinx breaker,” noting the transformative impact of his administration. Furthermore, Senator Akpabio’s historic election to the Executive Committee of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), which ended Nigeria’s 59-year absence in the top hierarchy of the global legislative body, was celebrated as a milestone for the country.
Governor Senator Monday Okpebholo of Edo State praised Senator Akpabio’s ability to navigate the complexities of governance across both executive and legislative arms, fostering collaboration that has positively impacted Nigeria’s development since June 2023. He also acknowledged the productive working relationship between the National Assembly and the Executive Arm under Akpabio’s leadership, expressing hope for continued partnerships that benefit Nigerians.
Governor Okpebholo extended warm wishes to Senator Akpabio, wishing him good health and many more years of service to humanity.
The Senate President’s birthday is seen as an opportunity to reflect on his contributions to good governance and the rule of law and his dedication to improving lives across the nation.
