AC Milan have extended the contract of Croatian midfielder Luka Modrić by one year, keeping the veteran at the club beyond his 41st birthday in September.
Modrić joined the Italian side last summer on an initial one year deal following the end of his 13 year spell at Real Madrid, with Milan holding an option to extend his stay.
The former Ballon d’Or winner made 37 appearances in all competitions last season, scoring two goals as Milan finished fifth in Serie A and reached the round of 16 of the Coppa Italia.
Modrić will now continue his career under new head coach Rúben Amorim, who took charge of the club following the departure of Massimiliano Allegri in June.
