Ademola Lookman has released a statement in response to Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini’s criticism following their Champions League elimination.
Gasperini controversially singled out Lookman for his missed penalty in Tuesday night’s defeat to Club Brugge, accusing him of seeking personal glory and labeling him a poor penalty taker.
In his statement, Lookman expressed that being singled out in such a manner was not only painful but deeply disrespectful, especially considering the immense dedication and hard work he consistently puts in to help the team succeed.
He clarified that the designated penalty taker had instructed him to take the penalty, and in that moment, he accepted the responsibility to do so for the team.
Lookman added that life is about challenges and turning pain into power, which he will continue to do.
