The Lagos State Government has disbursed over ₦3.1 billion in compensation to more than 300 landowners whose properties were acquired for public infrastructure projects across the state.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu said the compensation reflects the administration’s commitment to responsible governance, stressing that infrastructure development must be pursued with fairness, transparency and respect for the rights of affected residents.
He explained that all claims underwent enumeration, professional valuation and verification of land titles to ensure only legitimate beneficiaries received compensation, adding that the acquired lands are designated solely for strategic public infrastructure projects.
The governor urged beneficiaries to invest the funds wisely for long term financial security and assured them of continued professional support from the Lagos State Lands Bureau on land documentation and related matters.
Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat said the payment fulfils promises made to affected residents, while the Permanent Secretary of the Lands Bureau, Kamar Olowoshago, described the exercise as a demonstration of transparency, accountability and inclusive development.
