The Katsina State Police Command has apprehended a four-man syndicate of suspected armed robbers allegedly responsible for terrorizing Baure Local Government Area of the state.
The suspects, identified as Basiru Ayuba (22), Muhammed Musa (45), Abubakar Abdullahi (20), and Musa Rabi’u (20), were arrested in connection with an armed robbery that occurred on October 1, 2024.
Police spokesperson ASP Abubakar Sadiq, in a statement on Wednesday, revealed that the suspects had conspired and invaded the home of a POS vendor, Rabi’u Umar, on September 6, 2024, at around 3:00 a.m. They reportedly stole N2,070,000 in cash, a Tecno Camon 20 phone, and 15 dinars of Libyan currency.
The investigation revealed that two of the suspects, Basiru Ayuba and Abubakar Abdullahi, met while in custody at a correctional facility. Upon their release, they joined forces with Muhammed Musa to plan the robbery, later recruiting Musa Rabi’u to execute their plan.
Recovered items include the Tecno Camon 20 phone, 15 Libyan dinars, and the black bag used to conceal the stolen cash.
Police have indicated that investigations are ongoing, and the suspects will be charged in court upon conclusion.
