Aggrieved workers of the Kaduna Refining and Petrochemical Company, KRPC, have staged a protest over alleged unpaid salaries running into several months.

The protest, which began on Tuesday, continued through Wednesday and Thursday, disrupting activities at the refinery as workers reportedly blocked the entrance to the facility’s administrative block.

A staff member, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the workers were frustrated by the prolonged delay in salary payments and were demanding urgent action from management.

The worker warned that the protest could continue until Friday if the concerns of the affected employees are not addressed.

The exact duration of the alleged salary arrears and the categories of workers affected have yet to be established.

Efforts to obtain an official response from the management of the refinery were unsuccessful as of the time of filing the report.

The protest comes as the Kaduna refinery continues to undergo rehabilitation and turnaround maintenance following years of limited operations.
