IGP ORDERS BAN ON SECURITY AIDES AND ESCORTS DURING EDO GOVERNORSHIP ELECTION

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Olukayode Egbetokun, has issued a directive prohibiting all security aides and escorts from accompanying important personalities to polling booths and collation centers during the Edo State off-cycle governorship election, scheduled for tomorrow.

According to a statement by Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the decision is aimed at safeguarding the integrity of the electoral process.

The statement further outlined that no unauthorized security personnel or quasi-security outfits would be allowed to operate in any capacity during the election. The ban is part of broader measures designed to ensure a peaceful, transparent, and credible election in Edo State.
