House of Representatives to Contribute 50% of Salaries to Tackle Hunger

Date:

House of Representatives has pledged to contribute 50% of their salaries for a period of six months to address hunger across the country.

A Lawmaker from Ogun State, Hon. Ibrahim Isiaka in a Motion, urged youths to shun their planned protest over the current economic situation in the country.

He said it is the constitutional right of Nigerians to protest, arguing however that the federal government was doing its best to address the situation.

Speaker, Hon. Tajudeen Abbas who presided over the session yielded the floor to members to contribute to the motion and when it was the turn of Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu to speak, he amended the prayers by pleading with his colleagues to sacrifice 50 % of their salary.
