FG To Reward Paris Olympics Gold Medalists With $5,000

The Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Enoh has disclosed that Nigerian athletes who achieve gold at the Paris Olympics will receive a reward of five thousand dollars.

Senator Enoh who disclosed this to newsmen in Abuja added that Silver medalists will be awarded three thousand dollars while bronze medalists will receive two thousand dollars, in a bid to motivate Nigerian athletes during the Games.

Senator Enoh also revealed that allowances for both local and international training camps will be disbursed to athletes before they depart from Paris.

He further confirmed that the Federal Government has approved a budget exceeding twelve billion naira for the upcoming 2024 Paris Olympic Games, with nine billion naira allocated for the Olympics and over three billion naira earmarked for the Paralympics.

The Paris Olympics are scheduled to take place from 26th July to 11th August, followed by the Paralympics from 28th August to 8th September.

Currently, Team Nigeria is undergoing preparations at their training camp in Germany with the Minister indicating that the team’s Captain for the Olympics will be announced shortly before their departure.
