England captain Harry Kane was absent from Bayern Munich’s training session ahead of Tuesday’s crucial Champions League playoff second-leg match against Celtic. The striker sustained a facial injury during Bayern’s 0-0 Bundesliga draw with Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday.
Kane took a knock to the face during the match but played the full 90 minutes. However, he did not participate in Monday’s training session as Bayern prepared for their home fixture against Celtic. The German giants won the first leg 2-1 at Celtic Park last week, with Kane scoring one of the goals.
Bayern manager Vincent Kompany reassured reporters during Monday’s press conference, stating that Kane’s injury was not serious. He added that the striker would be assessed before kick-off, and a decision on his participation would be made closer to the match.
Kane has been in stellar form this season, scoring 29 goals in 30 appearances for Bayern Munich. His potential absence could be a significant blow for the team as they aim to secure their place in the next round of the Champions League.
