Gunmen have attacked an Army outpost along the Igbeti-Igboho road in Oorelope Local Government Area of Oyo State, setting fire to a section of the base and a patrol vehicle.
The attack occurred between 5:30 and 6:00 on Sunday morning when the armed men reportedly stormed the Operation Burst base in large numbers and opened fire on security personnel.
Security operatives from other agencies were mobilised to the area following a distress call, but the attackers had fled before they arrived.
A search of the surrounding area was subsequently conducted, but no arrests were made.
Authorities say no lives were lost in the attack, although a block within the military outpost and a patrol vehicle were destroyed.
The Oyo State Police Command has confirmed the incident, with its spokesperson, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, saying only property was damaged.
