As part of ongoing efforts to strengthen security across Edo State, Governor Monday Okpebholo has approved the payment of monthly salaries and health insurance for members of the Edo State Security Corps (ESSC).
The announcement was made during the passing-out parade of the second batch of ESSC personnel at the Police Training School in Ogida, Benin City.
Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Musa Ikhilor, the Governor stated that integrating the corps into the state payroll is a strategic step to professionalize and restructure the security outfit. He emphasized that this measure aims to boost morale and enhance operational efficiency in tackling crime across the 18 local government areas of the state.
“The security and protection of lives and property remain a top priority for this administration,” Barrister Ikhilor noted.
Also speaking at the event, ACP Aghaowa Aigbe, Commandant of the Police Training School, commended the state’s commitment to building a robust grassroots security network.
Governor Okpebholo, who assumed office on November 12, 2024, has continued to prioritize security reforms as a key focus of his administration’s development agenda.
