Governor Dr. Peter Mbah of Enugu State has launched the Enugu State Geographic Information System (ENGIS), a transformative initiative aimed at modernizing land administration and improving governance efficiency.
Speaking at the launch, Governor Mbah highlighted the system’s role in eliminating land-related challenges, including double allocations and unauthorized constructions. He explained that ENGIS would streamline land title applications, reducing processing time to 48 hours and enhancing the ease of doing business in the state.
Governor Mbah underscored ENGIS’s potential to drive economic growth, projecting an increase in internally generated revenue to N300 billion annually.
Dr. Cyril Ezeama, ENGIS Coordinator, emphasized the system’s capacity to provide reliable geospatial data, positioning Enugu as a leader in digital land management.
Stakeholders, including Hon. Uchenna Ugwu, Speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly, praised the governor’s digital transformation agenda, pledging support for the initiative.
