Governor Fubara Pledges Support for Widows and Widowers in Rivers State

Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has pledged to renew the hope of widows and widowers through various programmes of his administration.

Governor Fubara who was represented by the Head of Rivers State Civil Service, Dr George Nwaeke, gave the assurance when he received a Delegation of Rivers Widows and Widowers’ Forum on Solidarity led by the Coordinator of Rivers State chapter, Mrs. Victoria Osagie Omoniyi, at Government House in Port Harcourt.

The Governor said such programmes were designed to provide sundry opportunities to the weak and vulnerable to enable them to address their socio-economic challenges.

He said the solidarity walk of the stakeholders undertaken in the rain was a demonstration of their determination to stand in defence of the interest of the state.

He urged them to key into the Government’s ‘people-first’ policies and programmes to adequately benefit from them.
