Governor Alex Otti Appoints Benson Okereke as New Head of Service for Abia State

Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has approved the appointment of Mr. Benson Okereke as the new Head of Service (HoS) for the state.

Mr. Okereke will succeed Dr. Queen Obioma, who is set to retire on December 31, 2024.

The announcement was made in a press statement issued on Monday by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Kenneth Kalu.

The statement read: “Following the conclusion of a rigorous merit-based selection process, His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, has approved the appointment of Mr. Benson Ojeikere as the new Head of Service for Abia State Civil Service. This appointment takes effect from December 31, 2024.”

Governor Otti extended his congratulations to Mr. Okereke on his appointment and expressed gratitude to the outgoing HoS, Dr. Queen Obioma, for her significant contributions to the state during her tenure.

Dr. Obioma’s retirement marks the end of an era in the Abia State Civil Service, as Mr. Okereke prepares to take over the leadership role at the start of 2025.
