Gas Tanker Leak Disrupts Traffic On Kaduna Bypass, No Casualties Recorded

Motorists and pedestrians have been advised to avoid the Nnamdi Azikiwe Bypass near Unguwan Mu’azu in Kaduna South Local Government Area following a compressed natural gas (CNG) tanker leak that triggered an emergency response and traffic diversion.

The Kaduna State Emergency Management Agency (KADSEMA) said emergency personnel, working with the Kaduna State Fire and Public Safety Agency, swiftly secured the scene and carried out cooling operations to stabilise the tanker and prevent a possible explosion.

Executive Secretary of KADSEMA, Usman Mazadu, confirmed that no lives were lost, no injuries were recorded, and the tanker driver escaped unharmed.

Traffic has been diverted through Ahmadu Bello Way and Kachia Road, resulting in heavy congestion as emergency operations continue.

KADSEMA urged residents and motorists to avoid the affected area until it is declared safe, assuring the public that the gas leak has been contained without damage to nearby properties and that monitoring will continue until normal traffic can resume.
